How to Keep Your Sanity in College and Still Have a Life (or what's left of it)

Hey there, fellow college freshmen! Let me guess, you're feeling overwhelmed and stressed out right about now? Don't worry, you're not alone. College can be a wild ride, but the good news is, it's possible to manage the stress and still have a good time. First of all, let's talk about why college is so darn stressful. We've got a million things to do, and only 24 hours in a day. We've got classes to attend, papers to write, and exams to study for. On top of that, we've got to figure out how to make new friends, navigate the campus (Hehe, not much in my case), and figure out how to survive on your own for the first time. No wonder you're feeling stressed! When I think about managing all the drama in my life, I also think about the little things that bring me joy. For me, one of those things is feeding biscuits to the dogs on campus. It may sound silly, but taking a break from my studies to spend some time with furry friends is always a great stress re...

Greetings , fellow intellectual adventurers!  Gather 'round as I, a humble and slightly bewildered college freshman, regale you with tales from my perilous journey through the labyrinthine pages of "Architects of Intelligence." Brace yourselves for a blog filled to the brim with laughter, sarcasm, and personal anecdotes, all while we uncover the book's key takeaways. So, grab your caffeinated beverage of choice and prepare for a hilarious expedition into the fascinating world of AI! Chapter 1: Battling the Beast of Jargon In my naive enthusiasm, I approached "Architects of Intelligence" with the tenacity of a warrior charging into battle. Little did I know that the battlefield was strewn with an arsenal of mind-boggling jargon that seemed specifically designed to confound unsuspecting college freshmen like me. Neural networks, deep learning, and natural language processing became the mythical beasts I had to slay. Picture me wielding a sword made of highligh...

More Than a Glitch: A Humorous and Thought-Provoking Look at Tech Bias

"More Than a Glitch" is a book by Meredith Broussard that explores the role of technology in society, particularly how it can perpetuate social inequalities. The book argues that the idea of technology as a neutral force is a myth and that it's important to understand the ways in which technology can perpetuate and amplify biases and inequalities. I recently read the book to occupy myself during boring lectures, and I have to say, it was a real hoot. If you're looking for a book that will make you laugh out loud while also making you think about the ways technology can perpetuate social inequalities, this is the book for you. Broussard, a professor of data journalism at New York University, uses examples from the worlds of journalism, advertising, and criminal justice to illustrate her points. For example, she discusses how algorithms used in the criminal justice system can be biased against certain groups and how the lack of diversity in the tech industry can le...

Excel: Because Sometimes You Just Need to Know What the Numbers Really Mean

Are you tired of drowning in a sea of numbers, unsure of how to make sense of all the data at your fingertips? Whether you're a college student working on a research project, a small business owner trying to optimize your operations, or just someone who loves numbers and graphs, mastering the art of data analysis can be a game-changer. And while there are many tools out there to help you with this task, few are as powerful and ubiquitous as Microsoft Excel. In this blog post, we'll explore how you can use Excel to make sense of your data, whether you're a beginner or an experienced analyst looking to take your skills to the next level. So, grab a cup of coffee, fire up your laptop, and let's dive into the world of Excel and data analysis! Firstly, let's establish what we mean by data analysis. Essentially, we're talking about using Excel to make sense of a bunch of numbers and statistics. You might be analyzing sales data, survey results, or even trying to p...

The Stoic Wisdom of Master Yoda: Thriving in Chaos

As someone with a penchant for overthinking and a sometimes-irreverent sense of humor, I've come to realize that finding true happiness and contentment is no easy feat. With deadlines to meet, social pressures to navigate, and a future that seems increasingly uncertain, it's easy to get lost in negative thoughts and emotions. That's why I've turned to the ancient philosophy of Stoicism, which offers a practical and down-to-earth approach to finding meaning and purpose in life.  In this blog post, I want to share some of the insights I've gained from studying Stoicism, and how its teachings on gratitude, acceptance, and detachment can help us lead more fulfilling and positive lives. So grab a cup of coffee (or your preferred beverage), sit back, and let's explore how Stoicism can help us find joy and contentment in the midst of life's challenges. The central idea of Stoicism is that we should focus on what we can control and let go of what we cannot con...

ChatGPT4: A New Era of Artificial Intelligence

I have to say I was pretty excited when I heard about the release of ChatGPT4. You might be wondering, "What the heck is that?" Well, my dear reader, it's the latest and greatest in artificial intelligence language models. It's the big sibling of GPT-3, which was all the rage just a couple of years ago. For those who are unfamiliar with GPT-3, let me give you a quick rundown. GPT-3, or Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3, is a language model developed by Open AI that can generate human-like text. Basically, you can give it a prompt, and it will generate a coherent response that sounds like it was written by a human. It's pretty wild stuff. So, back to ChatGPT4. What's so special about this new model? Well, for starters, it's even more powerful than its predecessor. It has 10 times as many parameters as GPT-3, which means it has a greater ability to understand and generate complex language. In other words, it's even better at doing the heavy lift...

Artificial Intelligence and Ethics: A Collision Course?

Artificial Intelligence is no longer just a sci-fi fantasy, but a very real technology that is rapidly changing our world. From self-driving cars to smart virtual assistants like Siri and Alexa, AI has the potential to revolutionize our lives in ways we could not have imagined even a decade ago. However, as with any technological innovation, AI development raises many ethical questions and concerns that we, as a society, must address. First and foremost, one of the most pressing ethical concerns with AI development is privacy. As AI algorithms become more sophisticated, they can potentially collect and analyze massive amounts of personal data from individuals. This data can include sensitive information such as medical history, financial data, and personal preferences. If this data falls into the wrong hands, it can be exploited for malicious purposes such as identity theft, fraud, or even blackmail. Secondly, another ethical concern with AI is bias. AI algorithms are only as good as...
